Dear Bill

Greetings from Jerusalem!

God bless youfor taking on this  holy task of collecting Dick Israel material.

I am still in a total state of shock and denial.

I was blessed to spend a  few weeks as Dick's assistant at Starlight at the BBHillel summer institute in 1975. I  had just spent a month on Outward Bound in Minnesota.  I was running many miles a day and I swear  I was strong enough to lift a small house. Part of or working relationship included a three to seven mile run every day.

Since then, even though I have not kept up regular running, every trip to Boston included at least a symbolic run with Dick. A  run with Dick was not simply a physical experience. It was about communion, talking, teaching and sharing.

I doubt I am alone in this - I have been running again sinceIheard the news of Dick's death- it's a way to spend more time with him.
